My academic work focusses on Economic Geography – the location, distribution and spatial organization of economic activities. However as a pure scientist, I’m mostly guided by idle curiosity when searching for research topics.

I am completing my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Sydney University, researching the trading patterns of water markets in the Murray Darling Basin of Australia. My research often involves data “mashups”… linking different socio-economic data sets to reveal new insights and emergent behaviour about the market. The project reveals what drives trading behaviour and where water entitlements are being redistributed throughout the Basin.

After taking a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Sydney, I earned a Master of Science in Water Science, Policy and Management at Oxford University where my research focussed on Virtual Water and Food Security in Syria and Sudan. During this time I represented Australia at the U23 World Rowing Championships and Oxford (Isis) in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race. Sport remains an important part of my lifestyle.

Outside academia, I’m an entrepreneur at heart. There are countless challenges/opportunities around us, waiting the arrival of an passionate team and an intelligent solution. I’m fortunate to work with talented people in building community and non-profit organisations, social enterprises and businesses, some of which are presented here.
